Rihanna Bonds With Chris Brown's Mother

Rihanna has been bonding with Chris Brown's mother over dinner. The 'Diamonds' singer - who recently rekindled her relationship with the 23-year-old R&B star despite the fact he is still on probation for assaulting her in 2009 - was spotted bonding with his mother Joyce Hawkins last Friday night.

A source revealed: "She's been reconnecting with Joyce and they had dinner the other day. They talked about life and what's important in life and of course you know they talked about Chris. I ain't about to get into specifics about what their conversation was about but I know Joyce loves my girl and always thought highly of her."

Rihanna - who is currently recording her new album 'Unapologetic' in Los Angeles - was reportedly thrilled when Joyce reached out to her and invited her to dinner as she views her as a close friend.
The insider said: "Joyce is in town spending time with Chris before his tour and she reached out to Rihanna and invited her to dinner. Rihanna ain't turning momma Joyce down and she's glad they got together again. It was good times.

"They were laughing the entire time, talking about the old days and talking about her music and Chris' music - they had a bomb time. They kicked it like young girlfriends.
(Riri and Joyce leaving the studio together)
"I know Joyce gave her so advice about Chris and told [her] Chris loves her so much and Ri was like 'Yeah, I know' and they just bonded like two bad b**ches."

Bankrupt Toni Braxton Accused of Fraudulently Giving $53K to Husband

Toni Braxton
fraudulently transferred $53,490 to her estranged husband in order to avoid paying back creditors in her bankruptcy case -- so says the trustee of Toni's bankruptcy estate.

According to new docs filed in Toni's ongoing bankruptcy case, Toni's estranged husband Keri Lewis received the 5-figure sum after Toni's money was already earmarked to repay creditors. Now, the bankruptcy trustee is suing Lewis to get the money back.

(Toni and Lewis at happier times)

Toni filed for bankruptcy in 2010, claiming she owed between $10 million and $50 million in debts.

A rep for Braxton tells Katenga News, "All of the payments made to Lewis prior to Toni’s bankruptcy filing were appropriate transfers for reasonable and necessary personal and business expenses in the ordinary course of her business."

The rep adds Toni will continue to provide the trustee whatever info is needed to address the allegation.

Miss Karun Nude pics!!! WARNING: Explicit Content

There are two nude pictures doing rounds on the internet that seem to be Miss Karun of Camp Mulla. Really!!! So fast!!! Okay let's get this straight. It is true in the international showbiz, sex really does sell an artist. Isn't Kim Kardashian's fame pegged on the fact that she did a home made porn video with Brandy's little brother, Ray J? How about the infamous Rihanna and Chris Brown nude pics that surfaced after their split in 2009?

So could this be a strategy that Miss Karun or he PR team are using to climb up the celebrity ladder. Miss Karun has come out strongly and denied that she is not the girl in the naked pictures. Though it is hard to tell if the photos are photoshopped, the lady in question strikes an uncanny resemblance to Camp Mulla's first lady.

In our Kenyan showbiz scene,it has proved to be a career suicide for any female celebrity who has taken this path. So Katenga News team word of advice to beautiful Karun is;  Girl, you are very talented and all you have to do is step up on stage, belt out a note and you will solidify your fan base. Don't do too much!!!

Anyway readers, it's for you to decide if this is Karun or an imposter...

Stars Step Out in Their Halloween Costumes

With Halloween fast approaching, stars came out this past weekend in some sexy and also scary costumes. Kim Kardashian got aquatic this Halloween weekend, transforming into Darryl Hannah's mermaid look from the flick, "Splash," sporting a long, blond wig and a seashell top. Yet, to complete her costume, Kardashian had Kanye West as her "captain." Kardashian tweeted a photo of the two of them together, writing "Me & my captain," before the two attended the 2nd Annual Midori Green Halloween Party in New York.

Fergie and husband Josh Duhamel got creative with their Halloween costumes, dressing up famous self-promoting actors Angelyne and Dennis Woodruff.

"The Voice" coach Christina Aguilera, took the sexy route this Halloween. The "Your Body" singer sported a revealing fish-net look with a large pink wig and white crown, while her boyfriend Matthew Rutler was her knight in shining armor.

Diddy seems to have made a full recovery from his recent car accident, partying at the playboy mansion dressed as Prince. Cassie, who dressed up as a sexy Cleopatra, tweeted a photo of herself and Diddy, with the caption "Cleopatra & Prince! Happy Halloween!!!! #turnup."
So guys, which celeb had the best halloween costume? Let us know in the comments.

Months after death, Sherman Hemsley not buried

Sherman Hemsley, popularly known as George Jefferson, died on July 24 from lung cancer, but the late television star has still not been buried due to a legal battle over his estate and his final resting place.

Hemsley, best known for his 11 seasons on the CBS sitcom "The Jeffersons," left behind an estate of approximately $50,000. He was not married and had no children. According to Fox News, Hemsley left his estate to Flora Enchinton Bernal, his "self-proclaimed business partner and live-in best friend." There is a will attesting to this. However, a man named Richard Thornton came forward after Hemsley's death, claiming to be his brother. Thornton filed a civil lawsuit calling into question the will.

A trial was supposedly set for September, but that got delayed until October in order for Thornton to get a DNA test. In addition, a woman and her son, the Rev. Michael George Wells, are insisting that the woman was a relative to Hemsley.

"We are family, and we are not looking for money. But if we are entitled to something, we don’t want anyone else to have it,” Wells told the El Paso Times. The money is one thing; the burial is something else. Even there, folks don't seem able to agree. Bernal has told authorities that Hemsley wanted to be buried in El Paso, Texas, where he'd lived for several decades. Others believe Hemsley should be buried in Pennsylvania, near his family.

A reporter from KTSM spoke to Bernal's attorney about the process. "It's been very difficult," Neill said. "I think she feels very responsible for Mr. Hemsley. She feels a deep desire to give him his final resting place and give him the dignity that comes with that. Obviously we've been delayed in order to get that resolution here, so I think it's been a combination of very frustrating and just... very emotional and difficult for her."

The judge is expected to make a final ruling on October 31 and hopefully Georgie can RIP.

Feature Artist of the Day: MAKADEM

Makadem also known as the Ohanglaman is of one Kenya’s most talented and promising performing artists. His command on stage, charisma and powerful vocal delivery, spiced with satire has made many describe him as Kenya’s own Fela Kuti. He has successfully fused different genres of music from Kenya, Africa and the world with his native Luo Benga music.

After completing his high school education, Makadem became a tour guide based in his hometown of Mombasa. He later began entertaining guests at the beach hotels, by playing his guitar and singing cover songs, to supplement his tour guide income.

By 1999, he had become a fully fledged musician and performing artist, and went on to record and release a reggae dancehall single titled ‘Mr. Lololova’.

Years later, Makadem met and started collaborating with veteran afro fusion producer, Tabu Osusa. This collaboration saw Makadem successfully transform his style of music from raga to an African based style that he refers to as ‘Anglo-Ohangla’. Anglo Ohangla is a fusion of Ohangla (traditional Luo music based on Luo drums), Nyatiti (Luo music based on a Luo lyre), and Dodo (traditional Luo music singing style – Luo is a tribe from western Kenya, Lake Victoria region) styles of music mixed with other modern African beats with heavily accented Luo-English Vocals. Makadem went on to record his debut album titled ‘Ohanglaman’ under Tabu Osusa’s keen guidance, which was released under Ketebul Music in 2007.

Makadem uses his humorous and witty lyrics to address deep socio-economic struggles in modern day Kenya. He has toured in Morocco and Europe and performed in regional festivals including Sauti za Busara (Zanzibar), Bayimba (Uganda) and Fest’Horn (Djibouti). He has shared the stage with top international artists including, Gregory Isaacs, Mighty Culture, Glen Washington, Baaba Maal, Mahotella Queens and Lokua Kanza to mention but a few.

Makadem was also in the international limelight when he released a song titled ‘Obama Be Thy Name’ in support of current American president Barrack Obama, during his campaign bid in 2008. The video on you tube generated quite a stir with both negative and positive feedback.

Makadem has managed to keep a busy touring and performance schedule and fresh from France he has been spotted at the Katenga Entertainment studios recording a massive hit with Katenga President, Cartel.

The Katenga News Team is looking forward to hearing this collabo!!!

R.I.P Natina Reed of 'Blaque'

The Katenga News Team is saddened to report that Natina Reed, formerly of the group Blaque, has passed away.  According to unconfirmed reports and twitter, she was involved in a hit and run early this morning, just a day before her 33rd birthday. She is survived by a son fathered by rapper Kurupt.

Natina rose to fame as part of the Atlanta-based group Blaque in 1999 with the release of their debut single, ’808′.  She was the protege of the late Lisa ‘Left Eye’ Lopes from TLC who signed the group to her production company, Left Eye Productions.  She also starred in the film ‘Bring It On’ alongside Gabrielle Union in 2000.

May she rest in peace.

Catch a few reactions via twitter below:

Yeah, No, Definitely

Makenna Maria, Esther Passari's beautiful 16 year old daughter, has landed on the Kenyan music scene with a bang. Hate it or love it, this teen is causing ripples amongst fans and haters and her Youtube videos' comments can attest to this.

Her single, Yeah, No, Definitely is a bubble gum track that sees the young Passaris in colourful costumes and dancing about cheerfully in the video. But this didn't auger too well with some local music lovers.

Wanyongist commented; this is your first and last video u talentless twat

50poe said: Wow this sucks fucking balls. If this ever goes viral, you will actually become the most laughed at person video on the internet other than Rebecca Black. Literally the funniest thing I've ever seen.

However, not everyone was hating;

Freenjina2009 said: I'm not so good in judging music, but from the attention you guys are giving this chic, I bet she's got something. Give her time and I won't judge her harshly just because she is a Passaris!

Nedatronics commented: I actually like it. Sounds like a Disney song but her voice carries it well. You have to understand that she's 16 and that this is the most viable genre of music for her before she graduates to more "mature" music. Act like an adult and quit abusing a teenager online.

Wooh!!! As we told you, this young'in is causing ripples. The Katenga News Team wishes her the best in her music endeavours and appeal to Kenyans to be more tolerant. It is a bad look on us to cyber bully a 16 year old girl who is following her dream.

Alfayo's SAMBUSA Rated 5/10

Katenga Entertainment's very own Alfayo is currently flying high and enjoying back to back airplay on local radio stations and television stations with his new scrumptuous (pun intended) Sambusa Video.

Today the ever smiling funny man's video was subjected to Pulse Magazine's video review and he scored a 5/10. Heaps of accolades were donned on him for the superb choice of location; the white sandy beaches, open skies, the underwater marine life and the plush feel of the indoor scenes.

Good job Alfayo and the Katenga Entertainment family.

Weezy Hospitalized After Suffering Seizure Like Symptoms

It seems like Ricky Rozay isn’t the only rapper that may not be caring for himself properly.

According to reports, yesterday afternoon, Lil Wayne’s private jet had to make an emergency landing after he began experiencing seizure-like symptoms.  The plane landed in Houston and he was treated at a local hospital and then released.

His reps have released a statement saying:
Lil Wayne was successfully released from the hospital after being treated for a severe migraine and dehydration. He is at home on doctor mandated rest and will return to work soon. He appreciates all of his fans for their support and love.
According to TMZ, Lil Wayne experience a second seizure while on a plane headed to Los Angeles. Although the site has a photograph of him leaving a Louisiana hospital after the plane made an emergency landing, his reps are denying such.

Last year, fellow rapper Rick Ross experienced two seizures in one day while on a plane, and later on a private jet en route to a Wingstop opening in Memphis. Months later, during a visit to 106 and Park, he revealed that test results proved he was 100% healthy and the seizures were the cause of lack of sleep:
It was a case of me not getting enough rest, enough sleep. I would get two hours of sleep and keep moving… that has to stop.
He also told Chelsea Handler earlier this year:
I had a seizure. Basically too much weed. I wake up, I party too much, I drink too much at the parties. Then I would wake up in the morning and drink the warm leftover champagne and it took a toll on my kidney. Well really I was just extremely exhausted so I had to change up a few things. I’m trying, I’m not all the way there yet but I’m trying.[...]I’m drinking a little less.
Hopefully, these guys will learn to slow down a little.

The Katenga News team would like to wish Weezy a quick recovery.

Fergie Talks Josh Duhamel infidelity Rumors to Oprah

By Hollywood standards, Fergie (former Black Eyed Peas member) and Josh Duhamel (``Las Vegas`` actor) have been together practically forever. By which we mean nine years. These two may look like the perfect couple but they've been through tough times.
Cast your mind back to just nine months into their then-fledgling marriage, when the Black Eyed Pea and the actor were racked with tabloid tales of alleged indiscretions on Duhamel's part. Reps for the couple denied that he had an affair with an Atlanta stripper during a one-night stand.  And while today he's the very picture of a doting hubby, Fergie sat down with Oprah Winfrey and discussed just how troubled those early relationship waters were.

"It was difficult," Fergie tells Oprah Winfrey in an upcoming episode of OWN's Oprah's Next Chapter, airing Oct. 21.

"When you go through difficult times it – it really makes you stronger as a unit, as a partnership. It does for us anyways. Our love today is a deeper love," Fergie continues. "Definitely we're strong today because of anything difficult that's happened with us. We deal with it. We communicate. Communicating is the most important thing."

But it's not the only thing. Duhamel admitted to Oprah that he was initially attracted to Fergie because of "how sexy she was and the hotness."

Still, he says, "We haven't been together for nine years because of that."

Instead, Duhamel and Fergie – who hope to have kids one day – work as a couple because, he says, "we grew up in very similar ways, you know?"

"My mother was a teacher. Both of her parents were teachers. We both had to work for what we got. We're both Catholic," he says. "There were a lot of things that were really compatible between us. But at the end of the day, she's just an amazing girl."

Katenga News team wishes this super sizzling couple the very best in their relationship.

Drake Graduates High School

It’s never too late to get your high school diploma (read K.C.S.E Certificate).

Drake has graduated from high school 10 years after dropping out. The 25-year-old Canadian rapper took to twitter to share his good news with his fans. He said:

“97% on my final exam. 88% in the course. One of the greatest feelings in my entire life. As of tonight I have graduated high school!
Thank you to my teacher Kim Janzen for spending the last 5 months working tirelessly with me!!”

The hitmaker dropped out of high school when he was just one credit short of graduating at the age of 15 to pursue a role on the Canadian teen drama series 'Degrassi: The Next Generation'.

The 'Take Care' rapper- who was once
romantically linked to Rihanna - recently ended his feud with Chris Brown after the pair were involved in a brawl at a New York nightclub on June 14, which resulted in a number of people getting injured including professional basketball player Tony Parker.

A source close to Chris said: "That situation has already been handled and Chris [has] no beef with [Drake.] We don't think about [him.] Drake who? That club s**t was what it was and Chris left that baggage back where it happened."

All in all, it’s good to see that no matter how much money he’s making or how famous he is, Drake still takes his education seriously. Congrats from the Katenga News Team!

Beyonce To Perform At Next Year’s (2013) Superbowl

Well, it looks as though Beyonce is definitely not pregnant again.

After all of the middle finger-throwing that M.I.A. did during last year’s Superbowl performance, family-friendly Beyonce is rumored to have been chosen as the next Super Bowl half-time performer for 2013. Though an official announcement won’t drop until tomorrow, an inside source claims that Bey will be booty-poppin’ to her hits on February 3, 2013 at the Mercedes-Benz Super-dome in New Orleans. And we may can expect some friends like Jay-z, Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland.

This news definitely debunks the pregnancy rumors that have been following her for a few weeks. There is no way that she’d have plans to hit the stage if she currently had a bun in the oven.

The upcoming performance will be Bey’s second Super Bowl appearance. In 2004, she performed the National Anthem  when the Superbowl was held in her hometown of Houston. (which was later overshadowed by Janet Jackson’s nipplegate). This Superbowl will also be monumental as it is the first NFL championship game in New Orleans since Hurricane Katrina came crashing through the city in 2005.

Take a look at B performing the National Anthem at the 2004 Super Bowl.

More power to Queen B!

Chat With The Katenga Entertainment Honcho, Cartel

Cartel Kenya, the President of Katenga Entertainment, is a man who has worked his way from infancy to being a heavyweight in the Kenyan music scene. The energy filled Katenga music is taking over our airwaves and the clubs making Cartel a force to reckon with. Charlene Kimara caught up with the Katenga Entertainment honcho and this is what he had to say.

When did you start music?

I started to rap while I was at Aquinas High School, Nairobi. At the time I used to rap along to Poxi Presha who was a great influence to my musical art. However, I ventured into Music professionally in 2007. I went to Maji Maji 4-Play Records and recorded my first two songs Ma Yellow Yellow and Pressure.

How did you end up owning your own recording house from being an artist at 4-Play records?

It was really difficult getting my footing into the industry. I felt like a new born alone in a desert. Ma Yellow Yellow received a lukewarm reception however; Pressure gave me my much desired break.

I joined Kamata Entertainment in late 2008, where I recorded the hit song `Inakubambia Wapi`. This song peaked on the charts very fast and it solidified my position in the game.

In 2010, I opened up Katenga Entertainment. I did this because I wanted to be my own boss. The path at the beginning was very thorny but I always felt that ``If others can do it, why not me? ``

Who is your biggest influence in music?

As I said before I started off by rapping along to Poxi Presha`s Otonglo Time and songs like Jaluo Jeuri. I was also influenced by 50 Cent. This was at a time that 50 Cent was the MVP in the rap game. I loved his musical style while at the same time admired his entrepreneurial skills.

If you were to do a collaboration with any artist, who would it be?

In the local music scene, I would love to work with Nyota Ndogo or Susanna Owiyo.  Internationally, D.J Cleo of South Africa.

Any words for upcoming talent?

Get your own style. Be UNIQUE.

Rihanna: "I Haven't Been on a Date in Two Years!"

You’d think when you’re the queen of R&B, you'd have no problem landing guys let alone dates – but life can get lonely at the top.

Rihanna graces the November issue of Vogue, where she opened up about life on the road, dating, and her relationship with Chris Brown.

The 24-year-old interviewed with the fashion staple well before the Brown reconciliation rumors were in full effect, telling the mag that she’s single.

“I have not been on a date in forever,” she said. “Like two years. Haven’t gone to the movies, to dinner. Zero.”

She confessed, “Seriously, all I want is a guy to take me out and make me laugh for a good hour and take my ass back home. He doesn’t even have to come up. All I want is conversation for an hour."

But the "Diamonds" singer understands why it's intimidating to ask her out… she is the most talked about woman in music right now!

"No one asks. Trust me on that. I’m waiting for the man who's ballsy enough to deal with me. I’m going to wait, though. You always find the wrong s--t when you go looking."

Even though the Barbadian beauty says she’s single, RiRi has been making headlines recently thanks to her now-public camaraderie with her infamous ex, Brown.

When Vogue asked about her relationship with the "Don't Wake Me Up" crooner since the 2009 assault – Rihanna defended their friendship. “The world hasn’t let go. They haven’t seen any progress in our friendship, because they don’t see anything,” she explained.

"But they’re not on the inside. They can’t see what I see, unless they’re sitting in my point of view. I guess I’ll learn to accept that."

With her latest album titled "Unapologetic" and rumors circulating that Rihanna and Brown will be making their relationship public when her 7th album hits stores, it seems like she’s going to do what she wants ... regardless of what the world thinks.
