Janelle Monae Delivers Powerful Speech at the Black Girls Rock 2012

Janelle Monae Singer Janelle Monae attends BET's Black Girls Rock 2012 After Party at Millesime - The Carlton Hotel on October 13, 2012 in New York City.

Last Sunday night, BET aired the 7th Annual Black Girls Rocks Awards which celebrated black women in entertainment and various other fields who have made an impact as positive role models and inspirational leaders. The night was filled with unity and love as honorees like Dionne Warwick, Alicia Keys, Kerry Washington and Susan L. Taylor took to the stage and offered words of wisdom during their acceptance speeches, but it was Janelle Monae’s speech that really knocked the show’s overall message out of the ball park.

Known for her signature style, a black tuxedo suit and white shirt combo, she said:

When I started my music career, I was a maid. I used to clean houses. My mother was a proud janitor. My stepfather, who raised me like his very own, worked at the post office and my father was a trashman.  They all wore uniforms and that’s why I stand here today, in my black and white, and I wear my uniform to honor them.
This is a reminder that I have work to do. I have people to uplift. I have people to inspire. And today, I wear my uniform proudly as a Cover Girl. I want to be clear, young girls, I didn’t have to change who I was to become a Cover Girl. I didn’t have to become perfect because I’ve learned throughout my journey that perfection is the enemy of greatness.

Embrace what makes you unique, even if it makes others uncomfortable.

Wow!!! What powerful words there. May her star keep rising...

50 Cent and Floyd Mayweather Twitter Beef

Thumb thugging is the new fist fight, the new Hip-Hop beef and the new way to air each other out!

Last night, old bros and bffs Fiddy and Floyd Mayweather decided to drag each other across twitter to the amusement of their fans and frenemies. The so-called beef allegedly started earlier this year after 50 Cent formed a boxing promotions company with Floyd called The Money Team Promotions (TMT) and later jumped ship.  In September, it was announced that 50 was in talks with Floyd’s biggest boxing rival Manny Pacquiao to do big business together. Although they didn’t formally go through with the deal, 50 announced this week that he did indeed form his own boxing promotion organization called SMS Promotions through twitter saying:

TMT IS OVER the money team is no longer a team. So it SMS promotions that’s it thats all

I move the fighters to SMSpromotion cause the other half of the money team .Didnt put up there $MONEY$
Things took a turn for the worse last night, after 50 took to Twitter to announce that one of his boxers, Yuriorkis Gamboa wanted to fight Floyd.  He then claimed that Floyd was ducking and dodging Manny Pacquiao which eventually set Floyd off and the claws definitely came out.
Check out the exchange below:

Now, although 50′s tweets sometimes read as though they were typed up by an 8th grader, you can not deny the genius level at which this man thinks.  He’s a master of manipulation so it would not be surprising if this was all a publicity stunt.  Think about it, one day, 50 Cent may have sat down with Floyd and said, “You already run the game. I’ll set up a boxing promotions company with another set of boxers, including your rival and we can monopolize this whole game.”  Or that could be a stretch. Maybe these two are all talk, no action and none of the fights people want to see (i.e. Mayweather and Pacquiao) will ever happen.

But we really miss these good bffs days.

Tusker Project Fame's Msechu Eyeing American Singing Competitions

Tanzania's representative and runner-up project Fame Peter Msechu tried out for two top American talent search reality shows namely the X-Factor and the Voice. He narrated his experience as follows:

And about X-Factor, he says, "X-Factor, audition ilifanyika Nashville. Nimefika leo, audition kumbe ilifanyika jana yake kwa hivyo sikupita nafasi ya kushiriki lakini nilipata nafasi ya kuonana na washiriki na majaji. Nikajaribu kuongea nao na nikiwapata wakifanya rehearsal nikafanya nao, nikafanya African touch kidogo. Mwakani lazima nifanye utaratibu wa kuingia."
The Katenga News Team applauds Msechu's spirit. All the best in your endeavours!!!

Kim Kardashian Horrified After Second Sex Tape Goes on Sale for £19 Million

Word is there is a new Kim Kardashian and Ray J sex video that is making it's rounds in media outlets in the US. The X-rated footage allegedly features the 32-year-old reality TV star and her ex-boyfriend Ray J engaged in erotic acts which are even raunchier than their first home video which leaked in 2007 and eventually released as a DVD entitled 'Kim Kardashian: Superstar'.

A source confirmed the claims saying: "It's definitely Kim in the video. And it's even raunchier than her last one. There are all kinds of eye-popping moments."

Kim is said to be terrified the latest sex tape will appear online and cause problems in her relationship with 35-year-old rapper Kanye West. The source added: "Kim fears this will damage her relationship with Kanye West."
The TV beauty narrowly avoided an embarrassing encounter with R&B singer Ray J, 31, last month when she sneaked out of Prime 112 restaurant in Miami to ensure she missed him. A source explained: "Kim and Kris Jenner posed for pictures in front of the restaurant to allow Kourtney and son Mason to sneak out the side entrance unnoticed. "And just by a few moments, Kim missed Ray J, who was seen entering the restaurant to meet a large group of friends including boxer Floyd Mayweather."

Kanye was involved in his own sex tape scandal in September when a 20-minute recording surfaced featuring him and a girl who looks just like Kim.
